Child care is an issue that affects millions of families, yet it’s also one of the most confusing. The federal government’s $10-a-day child care plan has been in place for nearly four years, but it hasn’t solved the problems many families face. In fact, it’s made things worse, including through longer waitlists, lack of program choices, and limited flexibility.

At Cardus, we have a different vision for child care – where “child care” is the care of a child, no matter who does it, whether that’s parents, daycare, preschool, grandparents, neighbours, or friends. So, a child care system can’t be an all-or-nothing deal. It needs to be inclusive and practical to best meet the individual needs of each family.

We’re very pleased to invite you to this evening of good food, great discussion, and expert perspectives on the possibilities and opportunities for a better vision for child care. Join us as Cardus Family Program Director Peter Jon Mitchell and Senior Fellow Andrea Mrozek share a vision for child care that works for all families. They’ll also offer insights on the connections among child care, family, and child development. And they’ll look ahead to the difference good child care policy can make for society today and for generations to come.
